Bernie Sanders calls for downward ‘transfer’ of wealth of top one percent “what we’re living in now is what I would call — what Pope Francis calls — a casino-type capitalism, which is out of control, where the people on top have lost any sense of responsibility for the rest of the society.”(r/politics)

I highly recommend people here learn about economics, and the impact of policy decision. Piketty has gone to considerable lengths showing how capitalist markets consistently fail to distribute wealth equally. This is because gains from capital (including investments) consistently outpace gains in income. The natural result is that the wealthy get increasingly wealthier at the expense of everyone else.

Thomas’s book (www.amazon.com/Capital-Twenty-First-Century-Thomas…) documents this phenomenon, with evidence, and is a good read. The major take away for me, outside of what I stated above, is that government policy is essentially the solution to alter how balanced gains from economic growth are distributed across a population.
