What books or methods can I use to study computer science while in prison? [Serious](r/learnprogramming)
My best advice would be to pick up some books on Discrete Math as well as algorithms (They dip into each other a fair amount as well). Possibly a book on computer architecture as well since you generally don’t need a computer to follow along with these as they tend to be very basic compared to the computers we have out there today. The math and algorithms can be done with pen and paper. Perhaps even data structures or design patterns as well would be a place to look, but those might have a lot of code samples.
These will give you a strong backing into the theory of computer science.
I can give you the books I used for these subjects, but I’ll ask the others on this sub-reddit to give possibly better resources.
Introduction to Algorithms – There are a lot of resources on algorithms. Again, this is simply the one I used. I haven’t done much in terms of comparing different texts.
Good luck with your situation. I hope others here can possibly give alternative resources for books.
