First, this is inconceivable to most programmers. This is world class hacking.
Second, don’t feel obligated to learn things you don’t want to. If you’re a web/C# programmer, knowing that the GPU writes to predictable memory addresses in Windows buys you exactly… Nothing!
Seriously though. If you want to be more knowledgeable, learn about things you want to do. You will never have intimate understanding of every part of the execution of any code. It’s just too complex.
Generic programming books that are good:
If you like making things crash – How to Break Software
For language specific books
But if you want to know all the ins and outs of C# and the CLR, CLR Via C# is an immensely information packed, if a bit dry, book.
