How old are you, who do you fangirl over, and how long have you been convincing yourself that it is just a phase?(r/AskWomen)
I’ll be 32 sooner than my milk expires in the fridge, and I have absolutely no impression that fangirling is a “phase”. I think it’s a gene. You either have it or you don’t.
I’ve been participating in fandoms since probably 1995, longer if you count pre-Internet teenybopper magazines. Anime, TV shows, bands, movies, books– if I like something, I REALLY like it, and I seek out others who like it with the same intensity. I have main, secondary and tertiary fandoms.
If anyone is ever feeling like they don’t quite get it, or how they can get into the fangirl lifestyle, can I make a book rec? My girl Sam Maggs wrote a book The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy and it’s a goddammed delight.
