In 1916 my great-grandfather built his house from a Sears home kit. 100 years later we’ve restored it to its original beauty.(r/pics)
Actually, there was often enough wood and materials left over to make a outhouse and a shed. I enjoy researching mail order houses and there are several books with really nice floor plans and pictures of what could be bought.
*edit Here is the Sear’s Archive Site with most of the floor plans. I have read and enjoyed This and This book both since they have history and talk with people who own or built the houses, or currently live in them. There are many other book out there that are just floor plans, Sears and Aladdin where the 2 big sellers.
