>American Christians for the most part worship money now and use politic speak to disregard actual Christian values as socialism and communism.
You may be interested in a book that explains why this is so, and why it wasn’t in times past in this country. One Nation Under God by Princeton historian Kevin Kruse traces how corporate America deliberately invented, constructed, a notion of Christianity in order to create a ‘religious right’. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read; it’s lucid, nuanced and deeply engaging. Kruse is some kind of sorcerer with words and historical data. He’s made a huge contribution with this book, something of which should become standard teaching not in college, but at least in high school.
Here’s a teaser to encourage people to check this out of their local library, an interview on NPR with Terry Gross.
