Perhaps the best book of all on evolution is The Greatest Show on Earth. I’m sorry, it’s by Richard Dawkins, who is a biologist. This is his specialty, and it’s masterfully written and gets rave reviews. If you insist on non-Dawkins, Why Evolution is True by Jerry Coyne.
In the “other arguments” department, please check my topics page under the “Evolution” heading for a small collection of links to excellent resources on evolution.
A personal word or three, if I may: Since you’re asking about evolution, it seems you’re a Creationist. That’s good, in a way. Because while it sometimes takes years for people to realize that the god they’ve been talking to is nothing but a voice in their heads, the Theory of Evolution is, by comparison, a no-brainer. We can easily bury you under mountains of evidence so deep that you can’t be a sane, rational person and, after honest perusal, still believe that the ToE is a lie.
This understanding will bring you to the realization that your father is wrong about something. That may ease the next step, wherein you consider if your father and you may have been wrong about something else too. Well, one step at a time!
I wish you the best of success in finding the truth. And I mean that with all sincerity.
