Trump planning one-on-one meeting with Putin without aides present: report(r/worldnews)
I am reading this book (that won the Pulitzer and is fucking excellent, although a little dry at times).
Anyways there is a big track in there about Kennedy’s meeting with Khrushchev in Vienna because they both felt that it was important to understand each other now that nuclear weapons were an issue. A simple misunderstanding could lead to nuclear war. They met in private – but both sides had a translator – and took notes. They had a philosophical talk about allowing countries to change their style of government to either communist or capitalist, West Berlin and nuclear arms. You got the impression that it was two really smart dudes trying to deescalate things and even though they were openly supporting actions against the other, it was for thought out reasons and they didn’t want it to go further.
Then you see Trump basically being lead around by Putin like a lapdog. Republicans, what the fuck happened? You are disgracing our country.
Edit: I am a total karma whore and yet this is the first time I have been surprised of a post blowing up. Sure the end is a little aggressive, but I am pretty sick of Trump…
