Derren Brown, in his book, tells the story of a hypnotist who was putting on a show and it was going well except for one guy, so the hypnotist had a word in his ear and said, “play along and I’ll pay you £100”

The show went great and the guy was really acting it up. When the show finished, the hypnotist sent everyone but that guy back to their seats. Then he turned and said, “Sleep!……..When you wake, no matter what anybody else says you will believe that I owe you £100….and wide awake”

Edit: For those interested the book is called Trick of the Mind and it is a really interesting read, covering topics like, hypnosis, magic, memory, and psychology.
